About The Position

Greater Iowa Credit Union is looking for a part time Teller to assist members with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments. This role involves ensuring efficient, effective, and professional teller operations, processing various member financial transactions, selling negotiable items, and transferring funds. The Teller will also welcome members, provide routine information about services, cross-sell credit union products, and maintain knowledge of regulatory compliance. Additionally, the position requires balancing cash drawers, investigating discrepancies, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • One month to twelve months of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
  • Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
  • Ten key calculator and computer keyboard by touch.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Detail oriented and accurate to prove cash at end of day and avoid errors on member accounts.
  • Above average math skills.
  • Proven track record of strong member service skills.
  • Diplomacy.
  • Professionalism in appearance, dress and attitude is a a must.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for ensuring and performing efficient, effective, and professional teller operations by receiving and processing member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments; selling money orders and other negotiable items and transferring amounts from member accounts as directed.
  • Ensures that all teller functions are performed correctly and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Welcomes members and provides routine information concerning services and directs members to appropriate department for specific information and service.
  • Presents and explains credit union products and services and cross sells them to meet their financial needs.
  • Maintains working knowledge of regulatory compliance related to teller area including (but not limited to): BSA, OFAC, USA Patriot ACT, Red Flag, Regulation CC, Regulation D, Regulation E, Truth in Savings, Privacy, etc.
  • Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • Investigates out of balance conditions and balancing errors and keeps management informed.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
