About The Position

The Teller/New Accounts role serves as a front-line representative of the bank, responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, processing financial transactions accurately and efficiently, and opening and maintaining new accounts. This position combines teller responsibilities with new account functions, requiring strong product knowledge, attention to detail, and compliance with all banking regulations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two or more years of recent teller or banking experience OR one or more years of recent First Bank of Wyoming teller or banking experience is required.
  • One year of recent cash handling experience is required.
  • One year of recent customer service experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex transactions and provide operational support.
  • Must have availability between 7:45 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about customer service.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and perform under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and flexibility in day-to-day activities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to follow complex instructions and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and standard office equipment.

Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly require shorter discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly, learn their names, and provide extraordinary service in alignment with Quality Service Standards and My Service Pledge: Smile, Eye Contact, Refer to Customers by Name, Offer Viable Options – Never Say No, Instant Acknowledgment, Customers Always Come First, End with Thank You.
  • Assist customers with financial transactions, account inquiries, and product information; take ownership of issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Conduct transactions accurately and within established guidelines, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments, cashier’s checks, wires, cash advances, account transfers, savings bonds, and change orders.
  • Accurately balance teller drawer, cash vault, coin machine, and Teller Cash Recycler (TCR) daily; maintain cash limits and safeguard assigned currency by adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Sort, count, and strap money for vault/TCR transactions; process overages and shortages according to the Cash Variation Policy.
  • Detect and manage risk in every transaction, including identifying counterfeit currency and fraudulent activity; stay current on fraud warnings and follow security protocols
  • Provide overrides for Teller I and II transactions within your limits; understand override procedures and limits for each position and transaction type.
  • Assist Supervisor with quarterly audits and Teller meetings; act as a resource for endorsement questions and operational guidance.
  • Shadow new tellers; mentor staff and assist with skill development.
  • Assist Operations Manager/Teller Supervisor with daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports as assigned.
  • Prepare FED shipments and order cash while staying within vault limits.
  • Troubleshoot issues with the Teller Cash Recycler (TCR), fix jams, audit the TCR, and run offage tickets as necessary.
  • Assist with account maintenance, including closures, name and address changes, dormant account forms, check orders, debit card requests, foreign currency transactions, and online banking enrollment; introduce and explain bank products and services as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer transactions and check handling tasks, including endorsements, Reg. CC holds, OFAC, and check cashing policies
  • Maintain knowledge of teller limits, branch limits, and procedures for overrides and approvals; understand bank products and review brochures with new customers
  • Maintain knowledge of banking platforms such as BAM, Finboa, Teams, UltiPro, 4Sight, Teller Menu, and Silverlake; know how to quote deposit rates and where to locate them.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and resolve customer and internal inquiries regarding policies, practices, and products, exercise independent judgment under minimal supervision
  • Assist with opening and closing all account types, including checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, HSAs, safe deposit boxes, and online banking, with minimal errors and avoiding SOX violations.
  • Correct account errors promptly and accurately.
  • Call customers regarding possible fraud and BANO transactions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Treasury Management products and assist customers in selecting appropriate solutions.
  • Understand overdraft fee refund limits and process refunds within authority.
  • Know products offered through Heartland for business accounts and submit referrals as needed.
  • Explain APY vs. interest rate differences and calculate for customers when necessary.
  • Understand limits for wires, cashier’s checks, overrides, debit card increases, bill pay, RDA, and authorization for business on personal NetTeller.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and display courteous, respectful behavior toward customers and coworkers; represent the bank professionally through appearance, punctuality, confidentiality, and adaptability.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

  • Adhere to all applicable banking regulations, applicable laws, company policies, management directives, security, and operational procedures.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of all required Compliance and Security training assigned by GBCI and First Bank of Wyoming within the designated timeframes. It is the individual’s responsibility to fully understand the content presented in each training module. If clarification is needed, the learner must proactively reach out to their supervisor to request further explanation or additional training as necessary.
  • Responsible for adherence to Bank Security Policy and for reporting security risks to management.
  • Keep management appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Support the bank’s mission by participating in Community Service and Bank-sponsored activities, while consistently representing the bank in a professional manner.
  • Represent First Bank of Wyoming in a professional manner which includes a professional image, confidentiality, a positive “can-do” attitude, good attendance, punctuality, flexibility and adaptability in meeting bank and customer needs.
  • Regular and predictable attendance in order to accomplish, among other things, in-person contact with customers.
  • Maintain physical presence in the workplace and full alertness during working hours to ensure effective customer service and overall job performance.
  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings.
  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service by interacting calmly and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds at various levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-friendly work area; safeguard confidential information and adhere to professional appearance standards.
