The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics is seeking to hire an undergraduate student, recent graduate, or graduate student to work part-time as a Telescope Assistant for the spring 2026 semester. The selected candidate will lead and grade rooftop telescope activities and planetarium show activities for introductory astronomy students on weeknights (Mon - Thu). We are seeking applicants who already have proficiency in making observations with Schmidt-Cassegrain and Dobsonian telescopes and with conducting night sky tours with our full-dome planetarium system (or a similar system). Availability for 5-10 hours per week in the evenings is necessary. Schedule: Expected hours will be approximately 5-10 hours/week. Compensation: The starting rate for this job is $15/hour. The selected candidate will report to Dr. Julia Kregenow. Interviews will be conducted in Fall 2025 so that the selected candidate can begin training in January 2026.
