About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to support mission‑critical communications systems for senior leader decision‑support environments. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong military communications background, hands-on experience with HF, UHF, and AEHF satellite communications, and direct experience operating communications security (COMSEC) equipment, including keying material handling and loading. This position requires an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance that has been adjudicated in the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses. Work Schedule: Work is performed onsite 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Additionally, there is an on-call requirement that is rotated amongst the team members. Essential Responsibilities: Operate, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and restore mission‑critical telecommunications systems, including: HF, UHF, and EHF SATCOM and LOS systems. Secure Voice, video, data, and networked communications systems. Operate and maintain COMSEC and cryptographic equipment, including: Loading, transferring, safeguarding, and accounting for keying material. Following COMSEC handling, accountability, and security procedures. Support warehouse and inventory operations, including: Tracking, labeling, issuing, and receiving communications equipment. Maintaining organized storage and accurate asset records. Apply knowledge, training, and expertise to determine appropriate operational course of action and best solution set to implement under varying events and conditions, brief customer on operational status. Provide operational level instruction and training to users on various voice, video and data networks including radio systems, satellite systems, network architecture and distribution systems. Identify and recommend process improvements, efficiency gains and innovative approaches to operations and service delivery to increase customer value. Work with customers to determine operational requirements for future system capabilities; support the design, planning and testing of new systems to meet customer needs; ensure new systems are properly installed and brought on-line for operational use; coordinate installation team efforts to ensure schedules are met and activities are not disruptive to ongoing operations. Ensure proper configuration and change management control are applied and system documentation is current. Successful candidates will receive highly specialized training on unique job responsibilities. Position requires travel or response to alternate locations in support of evolving customer requirements or surge demand. Travel as needed (10%). Requirements

  • Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance is required with adjudication within the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.
  • Five (5) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting circuits and equipment
  • Experience making, running, testing cables, performing loopbacks, installing equipment
  • Experience using VTC equipment
  • Security Clearance Required: TS/SCI
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 5 Years
  • Required Certifications: CompTIA IT Security+ Certification must be obtained within 6 months

Nice To Haves

  • Military communications experience (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force)
  • 5-10 years’ experience in RF systems including HF, VHF, UHF, EHF, AEHF
  • Experience as a Network and /or Systems Administrator
  • Experience with cryptographic systems, radio systems, video teleconferencing systems, satellite systems, network architecture and/or inside cable plant distribution systems
  • Commercial or military certificates of training in RF systems
  • Instructor or certified trainer experience
