About The Position

Position requires strong understanding of network architecture for wireless and fiber applications, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), FCC regulatory requirements and rules. Strong understanding of voice traffic engineering. Also, requires project management skills to lead telecom infrastructure constructions and customer migrations. The position must also have a strong understand on how to use the Return-on-Investment (ROI) tools for financial analysis. Position requires good written and verbal communication skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Negotiates interconnection and exchange of traffic agreements with IXCs, other CLECs, wireless carriers and ILECs. Research industry accepted methods and procedures for charges associated with the exchange of carrier traffic. Directs others within the WorldNet Engineering and Operations Groups to ensure the trunk configuration and capacity meets the demand. Performs other duties as assigned or as the position demands. For new wireless access point implementations, gather all necessary information to evaluate an optimal location to implement the new access point. Information gathering must include, but not limited to, customer locations and current monthly income, rental space monthly recurring costs, access to fiber infrastructure for network connectivity, etc. Work closely with the Network Engineering Operations (NEO) group to implement new FCC regulations that require technology implementations. Assist other departments (if necessary) in efforts to identify fraud, work resolutions and control the situation. For new HUB implementations, coordinate with contractors to perform site visits and occasional inspects to ensure the construction is accomplished according to the engineering specifications. Performs other duties as assigned or as the position demands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university; or 3 to 5 years of Telecommunications Project Specialist experience working with IXC’s, CLEC’s and Wireless Companies.
  • Basic knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of Telecommunications systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interprets the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Fully Bilingual (Spanish - English)
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical formulas and statistical models to understand financial figures and traffic distribution models.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, etc.
  • Project Management.
  • Problem Solving Abilities.
  • Training Design.
  • Capacity planning and traffic modeling of large-scale telecommunications systems.
  • Knowledge of both circuit switch and IP networks.
  • Knowledge of PSTN, HFC Cable networks, VoIP, IP routing and addressing schemes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the workmanship of contractor, vendors, and other personnel.
  • Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing project assigned work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
