About The Position

The Telecom Supervisor – OSP & Fiber Construction is responsible for overseeing outside plant (OSP) construction projects, including fiber optic network deployment, maintenance, and upgrades. This role supervises field crews, ensures quality and safety compliance, and manages daily construction operations to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in fiber construction, underground and aerial installations, and crew leadership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of OSP or fiber construction experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory or crew lead experience
  • Strong knowledge of underground fiber installation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret fiber construction prints and utility maps
  • Knowledge of right-of-way requirements, and utility coordination
  • Familiarity with production tracking and construction reporting tools
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Experience with directional drilling operations
  • Knowledge of DOT traffic control standards
  • Experience working on large-scale FTTH or backbone fiber deployments

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate OSP fiber construction crews (underground, and directional boring)
  • Oversee fiber placement
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company safety policies, and customer specifications
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, permits, and utility locates
  • Coordinate with project managers, municipalities, inspectors, and utility companies
  • Monitor production, job costs, materials, and equipment utilization
  • Conduct job site inspections to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to standards
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure performance expectations are met
  • Maintain accurate daily production reports, redlines, as-builts, and documentation
  • Troubleshoot field issues including route conflicts, restoration challenges, and design discrepancies
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate field personnel
  • Support workforce planning, scheduling, and performance management
