About The Position

The Supervisor, Telecom (Fiber) leads a high-performing Fiber Operations team supporting Fiber-to-Distribution, Long-Haul, and Legacy Fiber networks. This role directs approximately 12 Telecom Electricians and 2 Telecom Analysts, driving operational excellence across fiber construction, maintenance, restoration, and performance optimization. You will actively lead fiber operations, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and align technical execution with business strategy. Success in this role requires a strong balance of leadership, technical expertise, and operational discipline to ensure reliable, scalable, and resilient fiber infrastructure supporting critical business functions 24/7/365. This position is critical to ensuring reliability, performance, and rapid restoration of fiber infrastructure that supports essential business operations. You will directly impact uptime, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in telecommunications, fiber optics, or a Technology Organization (TO) related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in fiber construction, operations, and restoration environments.
  • Working knowledge of transport, data, voice networks, and similar systems.
  • Familiarity with utility and telecom ecosystems (e.g., substations, distribution, transmission, underground networks).
  • Experience collaborating with external partners (e.g., AT&T, Lumen, Verizon, Windstream, etc.).
  • Experience collaborating with and supporting hyperscalers (e.g., Amazon, Google, Meta, Oracle, etc.).
  • Strong leadership with a proven ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams.
  • Solid financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost management.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex fiber system issues.
  • Effective communicator capable of engaging field teams, customers, partners, and senior management levels.
  • Experience managing projects, priorities, and competing deadlines.
  • Deep understanding of fiber construction, maintenance standards, and operational best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is not required, but preference will be given to candidates with a four-year degree or nearing completion of a four-year degree program in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of fiber professionals, fostering accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee field operations, including fiber construction, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and break/fix restoration.
  • Drive network reliability by ensuring adherence to maintenance standards and rapid incident response.
  • Plan and manage workloads to optimize crew scheduling, resource allocation, and productivity.
  • Ensure cross-functional partnerships with engineering and project management teams to deliver business-critical solutions.
  • Manage departmental budgets, including forecasting, variance analysis, and cost control.
  • Strengthen vendor and partner relationships to ensure quality, compliance, and service delivery.
  • Enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance across all fiber activities.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Support after-hours operations for outages, escalations, and emergency restoration events.
  • Performance management and review processes for direct reports.
