About The Position

5 Star Electric, LLC (5 Star) is a premier full-service provider of electrical construction, maintenance, and repair services with offices in Western Kentucky and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. 5 Star specializes in Distribution and Transmission Power Line work, Substation, Industrial, Commercial, Streetlighting, and Fiber installations. The Laborer will work as part of a crew responsible for going into residential and commercial areas working on underground utilities and working with their crew to complete tasks for the day.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift.
  • Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers.
  • Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy.
  • English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports.
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired
  • Experience working with underground utilities desired
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Medical Certification
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL A is a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist crew leader in construction/ reconstruction and maintenance work.
  • Assist equipment operators, swamping, hand digging, locating underground obstructions.
  • Work with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and other necessary tools.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump truck.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Complete duties as assigned.
