About The Position

This position is for a Telecom Engineer in the Data Processing Department at Prime Healthcare Olympia Fields Hospital. The role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunication systems, specifically those utilizing Avaya, Cisco, and Nortel technologies, to ensure seamless communication throughout the hospital. The engineer is expected to possess strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly to emergency situations. This role requires independent work, minimal oversight on critical matters, and the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in evaluating options and making informed decisions. The position also demands effective task prioritization, efficient time management, and consistent adherence to deadlines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, an associate degree in telecommunications, electronics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Telecom Technician, with specific experience in Avaya or Cisco, or Nortel systems preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
• Strong understanding of PBX, VoIP, nurse call systems, paging systems, and structured cabling.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with hospital-specific communication systems such as nurse call and emergency response systems.
• Understands hospital business operations and structure, general requirements in an integrated delivery system, and use of IT applications in the practicing healthcare environment.
• Open to travel when required.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant certifications such as BICSI, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent preferred.
