About The Position

CMTA offers a robust co-op program for college students pursuing degrees in Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural Engineering, providing an opportunity to immerse themselves in consulting engineering for two or more semesters. Co-ops develop competitive industry skills in a hands-on environment, working on a team, and receiving training from Professional Engineers in AutoCAD and Revit to create real construction drawings for CMTA projects. This specific position offers hands-on training in Technology Systems design. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Engineers will instruct the student co-op on the design and implementation of various Technology systems, including Security, Audio Visual, IT Infrastructure, and IT active equipment. This role provides a valuable opportunity to work on challenging and complex Technology projects, becoming an important part of the design team and learning firsthand how Technology systems integrate to create secure and high-performing buildings.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BSEE, preferably a sophomore (2nd year) or a junior (3rd year)
  • Strong interest in Technology Systems and Electrical Engineering
  • CAD experience, preferably AutoCAD
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Ability to travel locally for field work

Nice To Haves

  • Revit experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed layout and equipment details of Technology systems of buildings
  • Produce one-line diagrams/schematics
  • Assist the design team in the process of assembling organized sets of drawings
  • Assist in the data collection and/or field verification
  • Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project
