Technology Solutions Engineer Intern/Co-op Summer 2026
About The Position
CMTA, a Legence company, is one of the fastest growing engineering firms in the U.S., with nationally recognized expertise in sustainable, high-performance building engineering. They are a collaborative, innovative, and energetic team that leverages a data-driven, holistic approach to consulting engineering, performance contracting, and zero energy projects. CMTA has a robust co-op program for college students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Architectural Engineering, offering an opportunity for students to immerse themselves for two or more semesters in the consulting engineering world. Co-ops build competitive industry skills in a hands-on environment, working on a team, and being trained by Professional Engineers in AutoCAD and Revit to create real construction drawings for real CMTA projects. This position provides a unique opportunity for hands-on training in Technology Systems design. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work well with a team and independently. Engineers will teach the student co-op how to design and implement various Technology systems including Security, Audio Visual, IT Infrastructure, and IT active equipment. This is an opportunity to work on challenging and complex Technology projects and become an important part of the design team, learning firsthand how Technology systems integrate to provide secure and high-performing buildings.
Requirements
- Pursuing a BSEE, preferably a sophomore (2nd year) or a junior (3rd year)
- Strong interest in Technology Systems and Electrical Engineering
- CAD experience, preferably AutoCAD
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Ability to travel locally for field work
Nice To Haves
- Revit experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed layout and equipment details of Technology systems of buildings
- Produce one-line diagrams/schematics
- Assist the design team in the process of assembling organized sets of drawings
- Assist in the data collection and/or field verification
- Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project.
