About The Position

Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church seeks a visionary Technology Manager to serve as the church's primary technology specialist, leading digital transformation initiatives that support our mission and ministry. This strategic leadership role requires a blend of technical expertise, spiritual maturity, and administrative acumen to oversee all aspects of the church's technology infrastructure, AI integration, and innovation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technology management, preferably in nonprofit or religious organizations
  • Proven track record of managing complex technology projects and initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of web technologies, content management systems, and digital platforms
  • Experience with church management software and database systems
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and data privacy regulations
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church's mission and values
  • Experience with programming and software development

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the church's website, ensuring content is current, engaging, and reflective of our mission and values
  • Manage website architecture, user experience, accessibility, and search engine optimization
  • Implement analytics to track engagement and optimize digital outreach strategies
  • Ensure website compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG) and data privacy regulations
  • Manage integration of giving platforms, event registration systems, and member portals
  • Maintain brand consistency across all digital platforms
  • Analyze and optimize comprehensive internal communication systems for staff, volunteers, and members
  • Optimize church management software (ChMS) and database systems
  • Implement and optimize communication platforms, including email systems, messaging apps, and collaboration tools
  • Oversee digital workflows for ministry coordination and information sharing
  • Train staff and key volunteers on communication platforms and best practices
  • Ensure data security and privacy for all internal communications
  • Coordinate with ministry leaders to establish effective digital communication channels
  • Provide oversight for the technology work order system for all church departments
  • Prioritize and manage technology requests from pastoral staff, ministry teams, and administrative personnel
  • Develop service level agreements (SLAs) for various types of technology requests
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized technical services
  • Maintain inventory of all church technology assets and equipment
  • Schedule and oversee routine maintenance of technology infrastructure
  • Manage technology budgets and expenditure tracking
  • Provide regular status updates on open projects and initiatives
  • Research, evaluate, and implement artificial intelligence tools to enhance ministry effectiveness
  • Identify opportunities for AI integration in administrative processes, communication, and outreach
  • Develop AI-assisted solutions for sermon transcription, content creation, and member engagement
  • Train staff on ethical and effective use of AI tools
  • Establish guidelines and policies for AI usage aligned with church values
  • Monitor emerging technologies and assess their potential ministry applications
  • Pilot innovative technology solutions with measurable outcomes
  • Present recommendations to leadership on strategic technology investments
  • Oversee network infrastructure, servers, and cloud-based systems
  • Ensure cybersecurity measures protect church data and systems
  • Manage disaster recovery and business continuity planning
  • Coordinate with IT vendors and service providers
  • Maintain technology documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (GDPR, COPPA for children's ministries, etc.)
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the church's mission
  • Present technology initiatives and budget proposals to church leadership
  • Serve on relevant church committees and leadership meetings
  • Mentor and develop technology volunteers and ministry teams
  • Provide technology guidance for all church programs and initiatives
  • Conduct regular technology assessments and needs analysis
