About The Position

As a Technology Installer, you will be responsible for on-site installation of low voltage systems, including but not limited to, fire alarm, cameras, access control, structured cabling, and security systems. Some other key responsibilities for your role will be assisting in the installation, alteration, addition, and/or repair of structured cabling systems and equipment on any type of project. This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Experience in structured cabling installations and construction job sites is a plus.
  • Current Drivers License and must have reliable transportation.
  • High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.
  • Bend conduit by hand with hand benders.
  • Utilize all power tools, saws, threaders, and knockout punches.
  • Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in CECs Safety Policy Handbook, Haz-Com Policy, and Lockout/Tagout Policy.
  • Operate two handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jack hammers.
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
  • Lift 51 pounds, routinely.
  • Constantly move about on the feet.
  • Climb ladders of all types.
  • Complete full day assignments involving overhead work.
  • Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
  • Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
  • Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed.
  • This position requires flexible work hours.
  • Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.

  • Experience in structured cabling installations and construction job sites is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in pulling wire, lifting, hoisting, and positioning materials.
  • May operate less complicated hand tools and equipment under direct supervision of a technician or Lead.
  • Assist in building and installing all types of cable tray and associated hardware.
  • Assist more senior personnel in less complicated structured cabling installations, connections, and terminations under close supervision.
  • Help in securing, relocating, and organizing materials, small tools, and equipment from and back to appropriate storage areas.
  • Keep work area clean by collecting and disposing of scrap, excess materials, and refuse.
  • Keep materials and tools clean and organized in an orderly fashion.
  • Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
