About The Position

The Technology & Esports Club Coordinator is responsible for assisting in planning and implementing technology and esports-related activities within the Boys & Girls Club. Serving as a mentor and positive role model for Club members ages 5 to 18, the Technology and Esports Program Assistant will engage youth in technology and esports experiences while providing guidance and support to promote digital literacy, gaming skills, and personal development in the realm of technology and esports.

Requirements

  • College credit hours towards a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Gaming, or related field preferred, and/or equivalent experience in technology and esports.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in technology and/or esports, including working with youth and supervising volunteers preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate above-average personal initiative.
  • Patience and a strong desire to impart technology and esports knowledge and skills to individuals from diverse backgrounds in an unbiased manner.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated tact, insight, and leadership skills in the technology and esports context.
  • Effective listening skills and the ability to calmly handle crisis situations.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior challenges in technology and esports settings.
  • Successful collaboration with culturally diverse staff and club members.
  • Respect for members and their passion for technology and esports.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a Class E Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Foster positive relationships with Club staff, volunteers, and members, creating a supportive and inclusive community for technology and esports enthusiasts.
  • Assist in implementing weekly activities, including overseeing equipment and resources during the delivery of programming in: o E-Sports o 3D Printing o VR Career Exploration Goggles o Recording Studio
  • Assist in the implementation of technology and esports activities aimed at promoting and enhancing digital literacy, gaming skills, and creativity of Club members aged 10-18.
  • Serve as a positive role model in the technology lab and esports arena, demonstrating a high level of expertise, professionalism, and passion for technology and esports.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of any grant-funded technology and esports programs, aligning with Boys & Girls Club’s priorities and directives from supervisors.
  • Ensure a safe and conducive environment in the technology lab and esports area, actively supervising members in all activities.
  • Manage technology and gaming equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed and maintaining a productive and inclusive environment.
  • Understand and complete necessary paperwork related to technology and esports activities, such as equipment inventories, succession plans, and attendance records.
  • Adhere to designated clock-in and clock-out procedures.
  • Maintain attendance records for technology and esports activities as instructed.
  • Assume other technology and esports-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain close communication with Club staff, members, and supervisors to exchange information, discuss technology and esports-related issues, interpret guidelines/instructions, and provide guidance and support.
  • Represent Boys & Girls Club as a technology and esports ambassador in the community, fostering connections with local technology companies, gaming organizations, and stakeholders.
