About The Position

The MRI Technologist performs high-quality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and compliance with regulatory and departmental standards. This role requires strong technical skills, patient-centered care, and strict adherence to MRI safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a school of Radiologic Technology providing education and training in treatment of patients in all age groups described.
  • Appropriate MRI training.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year MRI experience required.
  • Experience starting IV’s and administration of IV contrast required.
  • Sufficient knowledge of patient care and sterile techniques to deal with all types of conditions required.
  • Understanding of MRI physics, image production, and MRI safety required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in MRI with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Enter all exam charges into system and/or direct them to Material Services and Pharmacy as appropriate.
  • Work with the Radiologists to learn and follow their preferred imaging protocols.
  • Maintain room, equipment, and supplies in the MRI scan room, and notify responsible parties when supplies and/or contrast needs to be ordered.
  • Screen patients for safety before allowing them to enter MRI scanning suite, and verify patient implant safety for MRI, sending unknown implants that need further investigation to the MRSO.
  • Protocoling of MRI examinations and routing to the proper Radiologist when needed.
  • Operate the MRI scanner, selecting appropriate imaging sequences, and adjusting parameters for optimal image quality, addressing and responding to patient’s individual needs.
  • Administer gadolinium-based contrast agents intravenously as directed.
  • Maintain education, knowledge, and training requirements to provide up-to-date quality care to patients and stay current with CEU requirements as required by the ARRT.
  • Possess the ability to react objectively, using good judgement in crisis situations and on specific issues.
  • Follow the policies set by the MRI Safety Committee.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
