About The Position

The position of Mechanic for Exotics Racing generally serves as a high-performance engine technician, professionally responsible for keeping vehicles running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Mechanics will typically work on maintaining high- performance vehicles. Using computer diagnostic equipment, the Mechanic tests the cars to ensure they are operating correctly and identify potential problems; also works on high performance steering and suspension, drivelines, electrical and ignition systems.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the theory and complexities of automotive technology, Care and operation of internal combustion engines as well as electric hybrids

  • Methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment
  • Safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of computers and technology related to the high-performance vehicles operating in our Fleet, including but not limited to: circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming of this equipment.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Troubleshooting: Determining causes of operating errors and determining best approach to an efficient, long-term and safe repair.
  • Quality Control Analysis: Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Equipment Selection: Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Perform basic diagnostic procedures on all vehicle systems; determine appropriate maintenance and repairs
  • Effectively use hand tools and automotive diagnostic equipment
  • Interpret manufacturers’ specifications; generate and keep government-mandated computer records and files
  • Layout, position and complete projects from blueprints, sketches and verbal instructions
  • Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations
  • Perform heavy physical labor
  • Ability to work from plans and specifications
  • Follow and give oral and written instructions
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population.
  • A Technician has earned at least a high school diploma or GED with additional course work through a technical trade school, community college or junior college to study the construction and operation of engines.
  • An understanding of diagnostic testing equipment is critical.

  • Preferred four years as a journey-level mechanic in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains vehicle functionality by conducting inspections, repairing engine failures and drivetrain, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, replacing parts, components and repairing body damage
  • Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, replacing filters, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing
  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems
  • Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
  • Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs
  • Keeps shop equipment functioning by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
  • Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options
  • Keeps supplies ready by reviewing inventory stock, placing orders, verifying receipt of inventory
  • Stays on top of industry trends and job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
  • Seeks to meet organizational mission at an individual level through partnering with supervisory staff and communicating goals
