We are currently hiring an Engineering Process Technician in Catawba, NC. How You'll Help Us Connect the World The Engineering Process Technician will support production and process engineering in process control improvement, equipment design and installation, cost and scrap reduction, and new product introduction through the application of a methodical problem-solving approach. In this role you will assist with the start and ramp of new processes, helping to ensure that products can be made to high quality standards with minimum scrap. Be hands on with the process as products are introduced and help to formulate the optimal working methods in collaboration with partners in engineering, product development, quality, and PLM. You will document actions in technical reports or emails and establish and maintain a good working relationship with manufacturing employees, production supervision, quality assurance, and engineering. This position works on the new technology to expand CommScope's portfolio within the factories by collecting and analyzing data to identify the critical quality parameters and then help formulate procedures or solutions to mitigate future problems. The Engineering Process Technician will communicate problem areas, special projects, and other items needing follow-up with relevant members of the engineering teams. Assist this team with new equipment startups, process changes/improvements, new product development, and troubleshooting machine problems. Also, assist in evaluating process equipment specifications and development trials of new products and evaluations of new raw materials. Understanding and following the requirements of the EHS Policy, Standards, and relevant facility and operations EHS procedures. Performing assigned tasks, utilizing competencies obtained, to identify all OH&S risks and environmental impacts to which they are potentially exposed and mitigate exposure using defined controls. Reporting to supervisor, EHS or any other appropriate parties identified by site management, EHS concerns immediately upon identification. Communicating opportunities to supervisor, EHS or any other appropriate party identified by site management that contributes to the continuous improvement of the EHSMS.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • 5 or more years or relevant experience.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Basic computer and math skills, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of cable extrusion experience or UV curing process experience
  • A completed associate's degree and experience in cable manufacturing and strong project management experience.
  • Experience developing and writing documentation for processes, such as standard operating procedures, training manuals, and quality assurance methods.
  • Experience training team members for new machines and processes.
