Equipment examples: date coders, ball droppers, multi-head fillers, valve droppers, multi-head gassers, crimpers, labelers, cappers, tubers, spouter, conveyers (belt and chain), case sealers, fork lift trucks and hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Repair, fabricate, and install mechanical parts where feasible. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, adjustment and repair of equipment, controls, and other electrical peripherals. Must be able to operate machining equipment such as mill, lathe, drill press, small hand tools, etc. Perform and/or assist in major overhaul of production and fill room equipment, conveyors (belt and chain drive), hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, etc. Must have working knowledge of and ability to repair HVAC system. Perform daily visual walk around inspection of plant equipment and facilities. Perform preventive maintenance of equipment on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis or as required. Properly follow lock-out procedures when performing repairs on lines, equipment, etc. Perform other duties as may be assigned. May assist in providing routine and/or formal on the job training (OJT) to trainees or general plant personnel at the discretion and direction of management. With supervisory approval, may requisition spare parts, tools, etc. when required. Will immediately report any defects of problems to the shift supervisor. Will keep work area neat and clean and work in a safe manner observing all company rules. Will lift and handle various components, parts, etc. up to 100 pounds.

Requirements

  • Must possess general carpentry skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of pressure gas and undercup filling operations.
  • Must have a working knowledge of outside tank/gas farm and corresponding pipes and valves.
  • Must possess and demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
  • Must possess ability to perform math computations of manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Must possess working knowledge of all production equipment and ability to operate same.
  • Must be able to read various measuring gauges such as caliper, micrometer, veneer, etc.
  • Must be able to read and interpret schematic prints both mechanical and electrical.
  • Must have a working knowledge of and capability to repair fork lift trucks.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Proven mechanical skills
  • Able to read and interpret equipment manuals
