POSITION OVERVIEW The Technician Journeyman is charged with repairs and maintenance of diesel and gasoline engine commercial trucks according to company and factory specifications. Flat rate and hourly positions available.

Requirements

  • 4+ years hands on experience as a diesel technician preferably with dealership experience.
  • Diagnostic skill/experience & attention to detail.
  • Considerable knowledge of the design, adjustment, operations, maintenance, and repair of diversified mechanical and electrical equipment including light, medium, and heavy gas and diesel engines.
  • Journey level skills in the use of mechanical tools, material, and testing equipment (manual, technical, and computerized).

Nice To Haves

  • Navistar Engine, Cummins Engine Certification preferred.
  • Flat rate experience preferred.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • CDL License Preferred.
  • Bilingual Skills Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with company and factory standards.
  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with service advisor/leadman immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Participates in manufacturer sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all company-owned tools and manuals.
  • Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
