About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a small team, you will participate in the assembly and verification of space flight components on a Blue Origin spacecraft. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of a newly designed space tug through fabrication and delivery. This hands-on position requires experience in assembling and fabricating structures, tubes, electrical components. Throughout the manufacturing process, you will also identify, develop, and deploy methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize the build sequence of applicable hardware and equipment. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required. Together, the teams will deliver the structures for carrying critical components into space. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1-3 years' experience (or equivalent) in aerospace, aircraft, R&D, automotive or related mechanical fields.
  • Must be willing to travel (approximately 25%) to other launch sites or customer facilities as necessary
  • Strong attention to detail, desire to solve problems, and drive to resolve technical issues.
  • Work collaboratively with teams of assorted skills, fields, and backgrounds
  • Ability to lift items up to 40 lbs. and use lifting equipment and machinery for heavier hardware.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, prove ability to follow direction, and meet expectations.
  • Excellent shop mathematics, precision measuring skills and test instruments to complete work assignments including functional test assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, and established processes and procedures.
  • Must be comfortable working on ladders, scissor lifts, booms and or elevated workstations or in spaces of 10 feet or less such as under instrument panels and inside structures.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface with software systems, databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior experience fabricating, maintaining, testing, operating, or inspecting aerospace mechanical components or fluids systems.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of applicable industry experience (launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, motorsports, oil & gas).
  • A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration
  • Experience installing strain gages with a variety of adhesive types, fasteners, torque wrench, , wire harnesses, insulation and tubing.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware
  • Experience in assembling large tight-tolerance structures
  • Experience fabricating structures, drilling Hi-Lites, liquid shim.
  • MLI Blankets and Silver Teflon Tapes
  • Experience with on-vehicle repairs and working with different levels of cleanliness (Gross, Visual or clean room).
  • Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with constantly evolving roles and responsibilities
  • Able to obtain Top Secret clearance
  • Certification in and/or Knowledge of IPC 620 standards for assembly and inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with transition from development to production, including qualification schedules and first articles
  • Responsible for the fabrication and repair activities of various cable harnesses, Installing Aerospace fasteners, drilling, clamping, riveting, applying adhesives and installing blankets and reflective tapes
  • Assist in resolving operational issues found during process testing including disassembly, rerouting, testing, and measuring.
  • Support building complex structural components typically using large jigs and tooling to conform to final assembly level requirements
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance
  • Support vehicle/launch operations installation of harnesses or by performing field installations
  • Perform mate/de-mate, cleaning, inspection, length/breakout measuring, reassembly and testing of harnesses and sub-systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate deeply in all aspects of first mockup to first production
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision
  • Primary Shift is A shift 4x10 Monday-Thursday
  • •Ability to work a flexible schedule, supporting all shifts/OT, as necessary, to support business needs.
