About The Position

We are currently seeking a Chemical Lab Technician at our Natrona Heights
Operations. This position uses analytical chemistry instrumentation,
procedures, and provides analytical quantitative and qualitative analyses on
non-routine samples – such as metals and raw materials.

Requirements

• Associates degree in relevant field.
• Minimum 1+ years experience in a technical, chemical, or laboratory environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite – outlook, word, excel.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and to independently solve problems related to project assignments with metals, materials, etc.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written to all levels of internal and external customers.
• Ability to analyze and report on data.
• Ability to work independently with excellent organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Able to work safely and responsibly with Hydrochloric Acid, Nitric Acid, and Hydrofluoric Acid among other chemical and reagents in the laboratory.
• Proved analyses of metals, raw materials, and other process materials used in the making of steel. Using various analytical procedures including Graphite furnace AA, and ICP.
• Proved results pertaining to new metal and raw material standards used in the processing of steel using the above analytical procedures.
• Provide daily routine maintenance and occasional repairs as needed for laboratory instrumentation.
• Work on new instrumentation and procedures to determine if they can be utilized in an everyday analytical lab situation. Develop written procedures.
• Perform dissolution of metal/powder samples utilizing both hotplate and microwave digestion procedures.
• Prepare and standardize reagents, chemical solutions, and other compounds required for analytical analyses.
• Train other analytical and production personnel on procedures, methodology and result reporting. Discuss and explain procedures and results from outside firms.
