About The Position

Purpose: The Biotechnology Lab Technician will perform research in the NanoBio Systems Laboratory, a multidisciplinary lab working in the area of microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip, and organ-on-a-chip research for biotechnology and biomedical applications. (website: http://nanobio.tamu.edu) The project will be highly interdisciplinary and fast-paced, having multiple collaborating labs in mammalian cell biology, microbiology, biotechnology, and engineered microdevices. The candidate is expected to work closely with lab members including postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualifications for Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent Two years of related experience
  • Minimum qualifications for Technician II: High school diploma or equivalent Three years of related experience
  • Minimum qualifications for Technician III: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience No experience required
  • Minimum qualifications for Technician IV: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience Two years of related experience
  • Skills such as cultivation of cell lines and primary cells, cell phenotyping, molecular biology skills, etc.
  • Strong expertise in cell biology and molecular biology disciplines.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in cell biology or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in cell biology.
  • Experience in handling cells (mammalian cells, microorganisms) in microsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mammalian cell culture and maintenance
  • Perform and support mammalian cell culture / organ-on-a-chip experiments
  • Work closely with postdoctoral researchers and graduate students in the laboratory working on organ-on-a-chip projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
