Technician Apprentice
About The Position
Do you enjoy working with your hands? Do you have a natural knack for fixing and repairing things? Are you interested in a career as a diesel technician? Yancey has multiple apprenticeship opportunities that offer classroom and hands-on training to prepare you to work as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician. Starting pay is $18-$23 per hour with scheduled increases at the 6-month and 12-month marks. All apprentices are provided with a complete set of tools (valued at $8,000) to use during their training and are eligible to keep them after two years of employment. This is a full-time entry level position which allows for advancement through the Yancey career development program after completion. About the Standard Apprenticeship Program: 12-months of one-on-one training with a designated service technician as your mentor in a shop environment. Attend five facilitated classes covering: engines, hydraulics, electrical, preventative maintenance, and air conditioning certification. Work with your mentor to complete hands-on training and process / procedure experiences to prepare you for a career as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Meet Yancey employment requirements
- All mechanical testing, background checks, driving record checks and drug screening will be conducted
