We are currently looking for an Engineering Test Technician to join our team. This full-time position will be located in Farmington Hills, MI. A Day in the Life: The responsibilities listed are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties for this role. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed, to support business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a flexible skillset in order to support a variety of testing on new product development. In this role, the technician will be responsible setup, execution, and reporting of various vehicle/component level testing, maintaining testing equipment and testing areas, assisting engineers with unique testing needs, and any other task as requested by management. This job is very dynamic and will require seamless collaboration with other staff to ensure that each activity runs as intended. This position may require travel, overtime work on some weekends, and/or off-shift work as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in an automotive related discipline plus 4 years of test technician experience or equivalent required
  • Very strong automotive mechanical/technical skills, and proficiency using Microsoft Office tools

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with data acquisition instrumentation and body closure testing is preferred
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn new tasks, and the ability to maintain a clean and safe work area

Responsibilities

  • Instrumenting vehicles and conducting component/system level testing
  • Setting up and verifying complex test fixtures and measurement equipment, as well as fabricating simple test fixtures
  • Reading complex mechanical drawings and making accurate and repeatable measurements
  • Troubleshooting, root cause analysis and development of effective countermeasures
  • Creating accurate detailed test reports for submitting to test engineering
  • Communicate accurately and professionally with Technician, Engineering, and Management teams
  • Tracking personal progress to ensure department and corporate objectives are met
