About The Position

Employment in this role is conditional upon successful execution of the contract by the client. The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, editing, and delivering high-quality documentation that translates complex technical information into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand materials for internal and external audiences. This role supports organizational operations by producing a wide. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s-level degree from a recognized college or university. Alternatively, qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. If no degree is obtained, 6 years of experience is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience performing IT technical writing. Experience can include being in a position as a specialist or research assistant in a technical field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience and expert-level skill in developing technical documentation.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in supporting the development of Request for Proposal (RFP) solicitations, Request for Information (RFI) solicitations, and other solicitation documents for IT projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write, edit, and produce technical documentation such as system manuals, user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other deliverables.
  • Convert complex technical concepts into user-friendly language tailored to the target audience.
  • Develop supporting assets, including diagrams, graphics, and charts, to enhance content readability and comprehension.
  • Partner with engineers, developers, SMEs, and project managers to gather input and ensure accuracy of technical content.
  • Participate in document reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders to refine content.
  • Act as a communication bridge between technical and non-technical teams to ensure alignment.
  • Contribute to the development of government proposals, compliance documentation, and contractual responses (e.g., RFPs, RFQs, RFIs).
  • Write, organize, and format technical sections of proposals to ensure clarity, compliance, and persuasiveness.
  • Draft technical reports, meeting minutes, and progress documentation as required by project milestones.
  • Proofread and edit documentation for grammar, punctuation, consistency, and adherence to style guides.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and any applicable regulations (e.g., FAR requirements, Section 508 accessibility standards).
  • Maintain version control of documents and ensure updates are distributed appropriately.
  • Establish and maintain documentation templates, standards, and style guidelines.
  • Suggest improvements to document development processes and practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Stay updated on trends in technical writing and incorporate best practices into deliverables.
  • Organize and manage documentation repositories, ensuring materials are stored, updated, and retrievable.
  • Implement content management systems to streamline documentation workflows.
  • Track document changes and manage revisions to ensure deliverables remain current.
  • Other duties as assigned.
