About The Position

Technical Writer The Opportunity: As a program management specialist and technical writer, you will develop, revise, and manage highly regulated military training documentation for a Navy program office. This role focuses on translating complex technical specifications into standardized Navy instructional materials and high-level strategic plans that govern how Sailors are trained on Navy training systems and C4I capabilities. The real impact of project management and technical writing comes from communication to ensure the program achieves its goals and meets our quality standards and that Sailors can perform their jobs best and based on their ability to understand the training materials and apply those lessons to real life operations of Navy systems. Requirements

  • Experience with development and editing of Navy technical manuals for Fleet Systems
  • Experience with military communications equipment
  • Experience with Navy training policy, such as OPNAVINST 1500.76 series, and the NAVEDTRA 130 series for curriculum development
  • Experience with Navy manpower and training databases, such as HARPS or CMATT
  • Ability to author or edit DoD and DoN training documentation
  • Ability to update program training materials, media, to include standard Naval Education and Training (NAVEDTRA) and Integrated Learning Environment (ILE) products
  • Ability to update and revise communication program TRPs, MERs, NTSPs, TSIPs, training equipment plans, courseware, curriculum supporting documentation, and training materials and media
  • Ability to distill complex communications engineering data into clear, concise instructions for both entry-level Sailors and high-level Navy leadership
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in business or communications

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with prior Navy enlistment
  • Experience with DoN development or modification of Navy memos, communications, or directives
