About The Position

The Technical Writer supports corporate operations and government contracting programs by developing, organizing, and maintaining high‑quality documentation that meets internal standards and federal compliance requirements. This role is responsible for creating clear, accurate, and audit‑ready documents used for proposals, contract deliverables, operational processes, and client communications. The Technical Writer works cross‑functionally with program managers, SMEs, quality teams, and compliance staff to ensure documentation aligns with contract requirements, corporate standards, and regulatory frameworks commonly found in GovCon environments.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in technical writing, document management, or compliance documentation.
  • Strong understanding of documentation needs within corporate and/or federal contracting environments.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work with SMEs and translate complex information into clear, structured content.
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS structure and terminology
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple documents and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain technical documents including SOPs, work instructions, policies, user guides, training materials, and contract-required deliverables.
  • Develop documentation that complies with federal requirements (e.g., FAR, DFARS, agency‑specific guidelines) when applicable.
  • Produce corporate documents such as process maps, organizational charts, capability statements, and functional descriptions.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for federal proposals, technical volumes, management volumes, and past performance write-ups (NOT proposal writing, but technical content development).
  • Ensure documentation supports audit readiness for ISO standards, CMMC, quality assurance, program compliance, and contract performance metrics.
  • Coordinate with program teams to update contract deliverables such as transition plans, quality control plans (QCPs), communications plans, and training materials.
  • Work closely with SMEs, engineers, program managers, HR, and operations staff to capture accurate and complete information.
  • Conduct interviews and technical discovery sessions to develop or update documentation.
  • Translate complex technical and operational information into clear, readable content for varied audiences (technical, operational, executive, and government clients).
  • Maintain version control, naming standards, and document repositories (SharePoint, Teams, Confluence, or corporate systems).
  • Establish templates, style guides, and documentation standards for corporate and GovCon consistency.
  • Review documents for grammar, clarity, compliance, formatting, technical accuracy, and adherence to corporate branding.
  • Create graphics, process flows, and diagrams to support documentation when needed.
