Join our team and discover why we are a top veteran employer and Certified Great Place to Work™ ASFC Federal AFSS is seeking a Technical Writer for a 4-month assignment to provide full-time on-site support a NASA contract in Greenbelt, MD. Job Description: Full-time Technical Writer to support the Engineering and Technology Directorate at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This is a full-time 4-month assignment supporting full-time in office.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and translate technical content for the breadth of general user, scientific and engineering audiences.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Experience with managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to support interfacing with both technical and project management.
  • Individual must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Extensive background investigation will be performed as a requirement of the job.
  • A science (biology, chemistry, physics, information systems and information systems technology, or computer science) or engineering bachelor’s degree, or an English/Journalism degree with technical writing experience, or a technical associate’s degree + 2 years technical writing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the consolidation exercise of existing organizational directives by reviewing, categorizing, and merging content based on discipline.
  • Ensure clarity, eliminate redundancies, and produce well0structured, standardized documentation.
  • Ensure documentation is aligned with NASA formatting and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain, update, and post directives management documentation.
  • Translate scientific research into clear written content for publications, websites, proposals or other documentation.
  • Hold review boards and configuration management control on any updates made to the directives.
  • Ensure all documentation and requirements are coordinated with the technical managers to align with our objectives.
  • Track and modifying documentation independently to meet necessary standards.
  • Conduct interviews with various users and technical staff to gather accurate data for documentation.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that the documentation meets all users' needs.
  • Create or collaborating with a graphic designer to incorporate technical graphics support, including diagrams, flow charts, captioned photos, and milestone charts as requested for directives.
  • Handle any additional duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of our directives management process.
