About The Position

The Technical Writer will translate complex engineering and maintenance data into critical documentation that ensures aircraft safety as well as regulatory compliance. This position will interface with engineers, technicians, inspectors and other technical personnel to verify procedures and create/enhance the process of disassembly, cleaning, building and testing components. Incumbent will manage technical data as well as assist in various tasks within the Quality department.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Move inventory in various configurations using PPE and proper techniques.
  • Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Is frequently required to talk or listen.
  • Works in moderate noise levels.

Nice To Haves

  • 4-Year College Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Previous Technical Shop Production Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manages CMM & Technical Database for latest revisions and work plans.
  • Reviews latest CMMs revisions daily by researching incoming & outgoing workloads.
  • Interprets new revisions and Issues changes to work plans when new EOs/POSHs are released.
  • Coordinates with lead technicians, Shop Managers, Quality & Quoting to notify details on part changes or new part approvals.
  • Understands Customer EO requirements to implement in Quantum Work Plans.
  • Interprets FedEx POSH, UPS EO's, United ECRA's to establish 100% replacement parts, parts replacement on condition & other customer requests to streamline technician requisition process.
  • Creates templates based off customers to list accepted PMA & 100% parts replacement.
  • Templates created are customer focused to allow for easy implementation of requested parts replacement and accepted PMA.
  • Manages Wencor & Non-Wencor PMA requests for customer approvals.
  • Submits PMA packages to customers and manages approval status by PN.
  • Witnesses Technician warranty testing and warranty administration.
  • Ensures technician warranty testing done by acceptable CMM standards.
  • Assists Purchasing/Procurement team in applicable PMA research.
  • Creating/Maintaining applicable PMA lists by PN and researching new available PMA.
  • Assist in creating outgoing documentation for finished and completed work orders. Producing 8130-3 documents, ATC Service Reports and Packing slips.
  • Assist in assigning Part-Out items to serviceable stock through Quantum and processing 8130 documentation.
