About The Position

As a Technical Writer, your mission is to work with and capture technical artifacts from engineering project teams. You will deliver accurate, updated, and easy-to-understand documentation on material both for internal use and external customer delivery. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and various subject matter experts to understand the lifecycle of complex projects, identify knowledge and information gaps, and use documentation to close the gap. You may act as an editor to material written by engineers or work to incorporate specific inputs from the engineering team into more comprehensive documents. As such, the technical writer will play a foundational role in raising and setting the bar for tone, voice, and quality across our written artifacts. With Anduril’s focus on defense and national security, documentation plays a critical role in ensuring front-line operators know how to leverage the “arsenal of democracy.” Your mission is to make the process of learning how to understand and operate systems as easy and seamless as possible, with exceptionally written and presented artifacts. You will identify relevant stakeholders and lead them through a documentation roadmap with established key milestones and targets. This will require an in-depth understanding of which engineers are relevant to documentation, and what an organized effort toward collaboration entails. You are to ensure that stakeholders are engaged at the right time, and you will guide them towards a polished and finished document that plainly meets customer needs. Finally, you will also work with Program Management to ensure contract deliverables are completed on-time and to a standard of excellence. Written content artifacts under this charger may include: requirement documentation, technical manuals, operational manuals, maintenance manuals, procedures, checklists, templates, user guides, troubleshooting guides, and release notes. You will partner with account and engineering teams across all phases of development to ensure users have the right documentation available.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of demonstrated excellence generating technical documentation with a portfolio of work.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation and working with engineers.
  • Experience building content in a variety of content authoring tools.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Must thrive with autonomy and responsibility, managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Passion for excellent documentation and user experience.
  • Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience writing technical user-facing documentation.
  • Previous experience creating technical documentation for Defense and Intelligence clients.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, review, and edit documentation that is user-focused.
  • Work with engineering and operations to deliver documentation of a consistently high-quality.
  • Contribute to Anduril’s technical writing toolkit, including style guides and documentation lifecycle.
  • Evaluate and prioritize tasks required to support product documentation efforts.
  • Communicate and help manage expectations regarding documentation timelines and risks.
  • Help build a culture of technical documentation by creating processes and training for others.
