The Technical Writer I position at KBR involves researching, developing, and updating technical documentation for military specifications and procedures. The role requires collaboration with various teams to produce manuals and documents that support the Army's Aviation and Ground Systems. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented environment and contribute to the creation of high-quality technical content.

  • Prepares technical documentation written to Military Specification such as MIL-STD-40051 and MIL-STD-38784, coordinating layout and organization of documentation.
  • Reads engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Coordinates graphic development to prepare technical publication graphics and illustrated parts breakdown/exploded view diagrams for uploading into the NPA graphics storage area.
  • Gathers and researches technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities.
  • Interacts with Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers, and Programmers as part of a courseware production team.
  • Reviews, edits, and proofreads materials written by others, providing suggested revisions.
  • Exercises safe, mature, discretionary handling of GFE materials, sensitive materials, and any GFI for training.
  • Prepares various types of technical documentation for ground combat systems which provide technical guidance for operation, evaluation, maintenance, and repair parts support.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable technical field or 8 years of equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Arbortext Editor, and/or common XML Editor.
  • Experience editing Extensible Markup Language (XML) and/or Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML).
  • Experience preparing technical documentation written to Military Specification such as MIL-STD-40051 and MIL-STD-38784.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Experience interacting with Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers, and Programmers as part of a courseware production team.
  • Experience with U.S. Army developed Interactive Authoring and Display System (IADS).
  • Ability to review, edit, and proofread materials written by others, providing guidance and suggested revisions.
  • Experience coordinating graphics development for technical publication graphics and diagrams.
  • Ability to gather and research technical information for documentation activities.
  • Experience in preparation of varied types of technical documentation for ground combat systems.
