About The Position

The Technical Writer must be able to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. This individual will need to be a self-starter with a team first mindset who shows initiative and is driven to jump in when they see help is needed. This role involves working closely with our engineering and product development teams to create comprehensive manuals, user guides, and technical specifications for our cutting-edge product. This individual would report to the technical publications manager.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in UAS technology or aerospace industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Adobe, Word, Web manuals or similar.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years’ experience in Aviation / Military technical writing. Relevant UAS industry specific knowledge/experience may be considered in lieu of technical writing knowledge / experience.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards for UAS operations and military standards such as MIL-STD-40051-1/2, MIL-STD-38784, MIL-PRF-63029, MIL-PRF-63002, and MIL-HDBK-1222.
  • Working knowledge of JIRA and SharePoint
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Experience with graphic design or multimedia content creation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and maintain high-quality documentation for hardware and software, including user manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather technical information and ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Conduct validation and verification events.
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to company standards and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of existing documentation to reflect product updates and improvements.
  • Assist in maintaining customer user accounts.
  • Capture photographs of installation and removal procedures as required.
  • Assumes all other responsibilities as assigned
