About the position

Serve as a technical writer-editor, responsible for compiling, writing and editing technical reports, and multimedia presentations for dissemination throughout the Corps of Engineers, other federal and state agencies and the general public. Responsibilities

• Determine the final composition of illustrations to include in technical documents and briefings.
• Organize, write, and edit technical reports, papers, articles, and briefings on the technical work, progress and achievements of an engineering organization that executes complex civil works projects and programs.
• Apply substantial subject-matter knowledge of sensitive, extremely complex civil works planning and construction contract documents.
• Provide guidance (written and oral) for technical leads to follow when preparing regular and special papers.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience which includes having expertise in compiling, writing and editing technical reports, and multimedia presentations for dissemination throughout the agency.
• Use of desktop publishing software and other software/hardware to prepare complex technical documents and original multimedia presentations.
• Ensures documents conform to established formats, are technically correct, and of appropriate scope for the intended audience.
• Manages the report publication process and coordinates schedules with management.
• Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a relevant field.
• A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position.
