About The Position

An exciting opportunity exists at Barnes Aerospace for a Technical Training Specialist to support the Senior Manager, Technical Training and Apprenticeships. This role is critical to aid in the development and roll-out of the new Technical Training Program (TTP) at Barnes Aerospace. The Technical Training Specialist will be responsible for creating and documenting the procedures required to train new and existing employees in various departments throughout the production floor to support departmental training efforts and program goals. This position initially focuses on material development, although there is potential to become involved in the implementation and delivery of the hands-on training in the future. This is a 1-year contract role with the possibility of an extension.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing, training, or manufacturing support role.
  • Strong communication skills with both production floor employees and management. Able to maintain composure during high-stress or conflict situations, demonstrating empathy and professional persistence.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing data, priorities, and timelines.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and training documentation systems.
  • Ability to take technical information and translate it into clear written instructions.
  • Travel requirements in local area of 30%.
  • Associate degree or coursework in Technical Writing, Adult Learning, Manufacturing, or related field; relevant experience acceptable in lieu.

  • Military training background a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create clear and organized training documents based on input from Engineers, Supervisors, Quality, and experienced employees by developing step-by-step work instructions and job aids for various manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in building structured training manuals and reference guides by converting existing notes, verbal instructions, and legacy documents into standardized digital materials.
  • Create basic visual aids (charts, simple diagrams, formatted checklists) to help form the foundation for the new TTP.
  • Format and standardize documents to align with company documentation practices and maintain organized electronic files and revision history.
  • Update training materials as process changes occur and ensure documents are clear, consistent, and easy to follow while utilizing the Training Within Industry (TWI) standard.
  • Spend time in various departments observing processes to ensure accuracy of documentation as well as interviewing subject matter experts to capture technical knowledge
