Manufacturing Engineering Technical Specialist - Investment Castings
About The Position
you'll be recognized as an authoritative source of technical expertise and advice in a local area within a business and viewed as a key member of the broader team of technical expertise by senior capability leadership. May be a specialist with depth and/or breadth of knowledge in their own discipline or field, or may be a specialist in Rolls-Royce's products and solutions and how they are differentiated from the competition. Generates business beneï¬ts through the application of specialist technical knowledge within their immediate area of expertise. Represents a critical resource to the "run and maintain" activity of a business, taking an active role in resolving current problems. Supports other technical specialists to advance knowledge in their capability area.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience or
- Master's degree and 3+ years of experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for consideration
- Understanding of Intellectual Property and Export Control requirements
Nice To Haves
- Previous investment casting or aerospace experience, single crystal casting experience a plus
- Advanced knowledge of statistical process control
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
Responsibilities
- Interact with customers to understand technical requirements & resolve issues
- Provide program management for individual part portfolio
- Troubleshoot manufacturing problems & root cause analysis
- Develop new, and refine existing investment casting product to reduce scrap, rework, and manufacturing costs
- Support manufacturing to ensure on-time delivery of product through all operations
- Work concurrently with customers to design components for castability
- Maintain customer relationships through joint resolution of issues
- Maintain and improve casting scrap and rework
- Improve casting profitability through cost reductions
- Achieve cost reduction through process improvements
- Develop and refine manufacturing work instructions
- Develop casting processes for new and existing products
- Assist in quotation of new products
- Achieve cost targets for development and production castings
- Establish and achieve milestones for casting development
- Guide and mentor other Manufacturing Engineers in the above activities
