About The Position

This role is for a Technical Sales Representative responsible for meeting sales forecasts in a defined Alabama-based geographic and product-focused territory. The position involves developing product and application skills through various learning modules, implementing territory and product-specific sales strategies, and providing "best-in-class" customer experiences. The representative will build strong client relationships, aiming for 12-14 in-person sales calls per week once established. Collaboration with the inside sales team is crucial for alignment and territorial activities. Key responsibilities include developing and closing opportunities, providing product and application assistance to customers, and assisting with complex quote generation. The role requires executing sales processes according to company policies, including using the Salesforce CRM platform, and collaborating with the sales team to exchange market information and strategies. The representative will also provide sales forecasts, reports, and an annual business plan, while complying with travel and entertainment policies. Continuous skill improvement through management feedback is expected. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as a coach and mentor. The work environment is industrial, such as power plants, paper mills, and chemical plants, requiring personal protective equipment at customer locations. While there is a local office in Birmingham, the successful candidate will primarily utilize a home office. Daily travel, with some overnight requirements, is expected.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 1 – 3 years of experience in industrial sales
  • Excellent interpersonal and selling skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Must have or be capable of developing strong technical knowledge of the products to be sold in the territory
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at management, engineering, and maintenance levels
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process flow
  • Ability to work under pressure and rapidly changing priorities
  • Superior conceptual and organizational skills combined with a strong work ethic
  • Leadership skills
  • Technical knowledge and strong mechanical aptitude

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license
  • Extensive land and occasional air travel will be required
  • May be required from time to time to take and successfully complete customer-directed drug and/or alcohol testing

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed mutually agreed upon sales forecast for a defined Alabama based geographic and product focused territory.
  • Develop product and application skills through in-house, on-line, and factory learning modules.
  • Develop and implement territory and product specific sales strategies.
  • Accountable for providing “best-in-class” customer experiences in your defined territory.
  • Build strong relationships with clients.
  • Target 12-14 in-person sales calls per week (once established).
  • Work closely with the inside sales team daily to ensure alignment on priorities, proper path on all territorial activities, and participate as a team player for the benefit of the entire Fluid Flow Products organization.
  • Develop and close opportunities by working closely with your customer base, sales management and sales team members.
  • Provide product and application assistance to customer base.
  • Assist inside sales team with complex quote generation.
  • Execute sales process following company policies, including the use of Salesforce CRM platform.
  • Collaborate with sales team to exchange market information and successful selling strategies.
  • Provide sales forecasts, sales reports, and present annual business plan as required by management.
  • Comply with company’s travel and entertainment policy and stay within expense budget.
  • Conforms to all company Standard Operating Policies and Procedures.
  • Exceed the expectations of our contractual suppliers from a sales, product/application knowledge, and professionalism standpoint.
  • Operate in a safe manner and follow all safety policies.
  • Continuously improve your skills through feedback and guidance by the management team.
