About The Position

We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to support customers using STRATCO Alkylation technology, BELCO wet gas scrubbing technology, and IsoTherming hydroprocessing technology. This role will work closely with current Business Development Managers to support existing customer accounts through technical engagement, aftermarket sales support, and identification of practical opportunities to improve customer operations. The ideal candidate combines strong technical understanding with commercial awareness and customer-facing skills. This person will help customers evaluate replacement and repair needs for existing equipment, identify upgrade opportunities, and recommend process improvements that enhance reliability, performance, and profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience in refining, petrochemical, gas processing, or related process industries.
  • Experience in customer-facing technical sales, applications engineering, process engineering, project engineering, or aftermarket support.
  • Ability to understand customer process challenges and translate them into practical technical and commercial opportunities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and commercial teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer opportunities and priorities in a remote work environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% to the Kansas City office and customer sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical knowledge of alkylation, wet gas scrubbing, hydroprocessing, or similar refinery and process technologies preferred.
  • Experience supporting licensed process technologies and installed process equipment.
  • Background in refinery operations, process troubleshooting, revamps, or reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with replacement equipment, repair scopes, and capital or maintenance project support.
  • Experience working directly with account managers or business development professionals on customer growth strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical sales support for customers operating STRATCO Alkylation, BELCO wet gas scrubbing, and IsoTherming hydroprocessing technologies.
  • Partner closely with Business Development Managers to maintain and grow existing customer accounts.
  • Serve as a technical resource for customers seeking replacement parts, equipment repairs, and system upgrades.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer process reliability, efficiency, capacity, safety, and profitability.
  • Review customer operating issues and recommend practical technical solutions and improvement pathways.
  • Conduct customer site visits to evaluate equipment condition, process performance, and upgrade opportunities.
  • Support development of technical and commercial proposals for aftermarket services, repairs, revamps, and upgrades.
  • Assist customers in troubleshooting process and equipment issues in collaboration with internal engineering and technology teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer technical, operations, maintenance, and management teams.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering, proposals, service, and project teams to ensure timely and effective customer support.
  • Maintain awareness of installed base equipment and identify lifecycle support opportunities within current accounts.
  • Prepare technical presentations, reports, and recommendations for customers and internal stakeholders.
