About The Position

Technical Sales Engineer SmarAct Inc. is a small, but rapidly growing US subsidiary of SmarAct Group, with headquarters in Germany. Dedicated to highest precision motion control, SmarAct develops piezo-based high performance micro- and nanopositioners, advanced control systems, laser interferometers and microtools for cutting-edge research and high-tech industries. Job description: To cope with the increasing demand in the US market, SmarAct Inc. is in need of a tech savvy Sales Engineer to work closely together with our team in Berkeley, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in physics, engineering or optics, and ideally several years of relevant experience in industry
  • In-depth knowledge in metrology and practical experience in the use of laser interferometers, vibrometers or optical encoders desired
  • Experience with scientific instrumentation and/or high-tech products
  • Ability to quickly establish relationships with potential customers
  • Strong solution selling skills
  • Keen perception, team player and willingness to work in an entrepreneurial and results-oriented culture
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

Responsibilities

  • Grow SmarAct Metrology's through acquiring new customers and intensifying business relations with existing customers
  • Selling interferometers, vibrometers and optical encoders to our customers in various industries (semiconductors, photonics, fundamental research, etc.)
  • Providing professional technical advice to our customers and proposing solutions to their challenges
  • Communication and co-ordination of customer requirements to the production site in Germany and monitoring of the production status
  • Supporting customers in the implementation of the products
  • Demonstrating our products during customer visits and at trade shows, conferences and other events
  • Enhance our products and business by contributing own product improvement suggestions
  • Providing administrative support as needed (updating customer/supplier list, reporting, etc.)
