Technical Project Monitor- Office of Geothermal

Lindahl ReedWashington, DC
$75,000 - $100,000Hybrid

About The Position

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Hydrocarbon and Geothermal Energy Office (HGEO) is the hub of geothermal energy applied research, development, and demonstration activities. HGEO’s mission is to unleash the full potential of America’s hydrocarbon and geothermal resources to provide affordable, reliable, and secure energy. Lindahl Reed provides HGEO the expert technical and management resources through its $300M Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Support (SETS) support service contract to achieve its mission. This position serves HGEO’s Office of Geothermal (OG). OG’s mission is to accelerate the discovery and development of gigawatt-scale geothermal energy and position geothermal as a competitive domestic source for reliable baseload electricity generation. OG works in partnership with industry, academia, DOE national laboratories, and others on research, development, and demonstration activities focused on technology R&D, pilots, and demonstrations, both within the enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) and hydrothermal resources space. This position would support work in one of the three following portfolios: Technology Research and Development: Assesses ways to improve geothermal exploration, drilling, materials, and power conversion, and looks at post-power uses like critical materials from geothermal brines. Pilots and Demonstrations: Focuses on enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) demonstration projects as well as reservoir improvements for EGS and thermal energy storage. Commercial Scale-Up: Works to bolster geothermal permitting processes, modeling tools and capabilities, awareness of geothermal energy and understanding of its value to the grid, and the geothermal workforce. Lindahl Reed has a need for a Technical Project Monitor that will directly support projects in the Office of Geothermal (OG) in scientific, engineering, and technical analyses. The position will support one or more portfolios within OG, as noted above.
