GreatAmerica is seeking an experienced program manager for its Platform Engineering Team within the Planning & Governance branch of IT. This role is responsible for managing multi-sourced, simple to complex programs and projects related to the health and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure. The Technical Program Manager will collaborate with various organizational levels, including business stakeholders, product engineering, infrastructure & operations, and third-party solution providers. GreatAmerica is the largest independent, family-owned national commercial equipment finance company in the U.S., established in 1992, with over 650 employees and a portfolio exceeding $2.5 billion. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, engineering or related field required
  • 5 years of professional experience in various IT roles (infrastructure, application development, database administration, cloud services etc.)
  • 5 years of Program or Project Management experience with major programs and/or advanced leadership
  • Experience with multiple project management methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile, Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-sourced teams
  • Experience identifying process gaps and driving the proposal, implementation, and automation of solutions
  • Demonstrated spoken and written communication skills
  • Experience building effective vendor relationships
  • Solid understanding of program and project management
  • Ability to understand and express technical concepts to non-technical individuals
  • Blend of strategic and tactical thinking and planning
  • High level understanding of IT infrastructure support (network topology/configuration/components, security, server, remote access/VDI, storage, server administration, web hosting, desktop clients, backup, monitoring, phone, directory services, certificates, internet protocols, etc.)
  • High level understanding of Microsoft database administration (disaster recovery concepts/availability groups, disks, database structure, database performance tuning, database migration, SISS, SSRS, etc.)
  • High level understanding of software application development and support (.NET frameworks, application design/architecture, service-based architecture, APIs, etc.)
  • Leads yet delegates authority to team members
  • Collaborator who is passionate about knowledge management (curating, storing, and sharing)
  • Fosters an environment of commitment, pride, trust, and delivery
  • Builds and maintains networks and support channels
  • Microsoft Office applications (including O365, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Management tools like Jira and possibly ServiceNow

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Program Management Professional (PgMP) or Project Management Profession certification (PMP) preferred
  • Agile or SAFe certification preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Code, databases/Microsoft SQL Server, Postman a plus
  • Experience in creating flowcharts and other system artifacts

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall IT health & maintenance program planning and governance
  • Create and maintain program schedules to ensure systems remain in full support and compliance
  • Break down complex projects/programs into deliverables and project plans that are well-balanced and timely executed
  • Manage stakeholder relationships at various levels of the organization
  • Facilitate priority alignment with key stakeholders and leadership
  • Identify program level risks, issues, and dependencies and creatively develop mitigation or action plans
  • Handle escalations and follow issues through to resolution
  • Coordinate personnel and manage vendor relationships
  • Ensure quality by coordinating testing and validation
  • Communicate (e.g., testing, training, release) to IT and the business
  • Maintain program management tools
  • Monitor program performance including cost, schedule, scope, quality, value/outcomes
  • Standardize and document repeatable processes
  • Become a trusted adviser to both leaders and employees
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve
