About The Position

Tesla’s Manufacturing Engineering team is at the forefront of building cutting edge assembly lines and automation cells. This team is building the next generation assembly lines which allows our operations team to produce amazing vehicles at best in class quality and rate; in a safe and ergonomic environment. As part of the Manufacturing Engineering group – the Material Flow Automation team is seeking a Technical Program Manager to manage multiple automation conveyance projects. The material flow/conveyance team is responsible for the automated conveyance and storage of large sub-assemblies within the factory from the dock to the line and between shops. This generally includes painted and unpainted bodies, seats, tires, drive units, batteries, instrument panel, etc. The primary objectives of the TPM will be to manage cross functional project teams tasked with delivering automation conveyance and storage solutions across multiple Tesla sites around the world. The TPM may manage multiple-simultaneous projects from concept selection through design and implementation. The TPM will develop the project plan to include scope, schedule, technical and resource requirements, cost/budget, change management, stakeholder and vendor management, communication, critical issues management, quality, risk management, procurement planning, project reporting and monitoring, and overall integration management. The TPM will be tasked to deliver projects that meet the functional requirements identified at the onset of the project, the established timeline, and will ensure the successful hand-off to the intended stakeholder(s). This position is based in Austin, TX Strategic calendar management and time planning support. Balance multiple complex projects and timelines end to end while maintaining executional and operational excellence within the division and across business groups Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Factory Design, Factory Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Product Engineering/Manufacturing, Legal, Real Estate, Finance, Operations, and other supporting functions to drive Infrastructure programs Partner with stakeholders to create detailed plans that cover strategy, scope, timelines, risks, resource needs, and cost targets to accelerate pivotal infrastructure programs Offer innovative and timely solutions to address/overcome program challenges Produce program reports and executive summaries in tandem with functional leaders from the organization Innovate and implement tools and analytics for project reporting, enabling program teams to concentrate on problem-solving

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business, with 7+ years of experience in program management or equivalent experience
Mastery in prioritizing tasks with impeccable time management skills, strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to manage several complex projects at the same time with high degrees of variation and uncertainty
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project) and basic knowledge of CAD ( AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA)
Exceptional written, presentation, and verbal communication skills with natural ability to speak and write effectively at all organizational levels
Proven ability to operate autonomously with minimal guidance, demonstrating a proactive and motivated mindset
Evident strong interpersonal skills, ensuring productive channels of communication and management of professional relationships, eagerness to immerse oneself in projects, showcasing a hands-on approach
A passion to work with automation equipment and design processes around it
Ability to lead a project from concept through to installation and hand-over while working in a close-knit, team environment
Must understand the integration of equipment design into existing or new systems , and knowledge of material flow strategies and dynamic manufacturing systems is an asset (floor or overhead conveyance systems, lifts, cranes, EMS, power and free, AGV’s)
Position will offer unique and complex engineering challenges that require persistence, innovative thinking and a positive attitude

Responsibilities

Manage cross functional project teams tasked with delivering automation conveyance and storage solutions across multiple Tesla sites around the world.
Manage multiple-simultaneous projects from concept selection through design and implementation.
Develop the project plan to include scope, schedule, technical and resource requirements, cost/budget, change management, stakeholder and vendor management, communication, critical issues management, quality, risk management, procurement planning, project reporting and monitoring, and overall integration management.
