We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to support a large-scale data center modernization initiative. This role operates at the intersection of program leadership and deep infrastructure technology expertise, ensuring complex engineering initiatives remain coordinated, risks are surfaced early, and multiple teams move forward in alignment. This is a 6-12 month contract role. Could get extended longer. Hybrid to Charlotte, NC location. The individual will serve as a central coordination point across engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams as the organization transitions from a VMware-centric environment toward a modern three-tier architecture across multiple data centers. This role requires someone who can engage credibly with highly technical engineering teams while maintaining program-level oversight, ensuring workstreams remain synchronized and aligned with overall transformation goals.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in technical program management, infrastructure program leadership, or large-scale IT transformation initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex data center or infrastructure modernization programs
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data center architecture, including compute, storage, networking, and virtualization
  • Experience coordinating large technical programs across multiple engineering teams
  • Ability to identify and communicate technical risk within complex engineering environments
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact with senior IT leadership and technical teams
  • Experience delivering work within large enterprise environments
  • Able to quickly establish credibility with senior engineers and infrastructure architects
  • Comfortable operating in complex, evolving technical environments
  • Skilled at translating between technical teams and program leadership
  • Strong at identifying dependencies, surfacing risks, and maintaining delivery momentum
  • Capable of stepping into an active program and driving coordination immediately

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with VMware environments and virtualization platforms
  • Experience supporting migrations toward three-tier infrastructure architectures
  • Working knowledge of containerization technologies and Kubernetes
  • Experience with modern platform and infrastructure transformation initiatives
  • Exposure to hybrid infrastructure environments spanning multiple data centers

Responsibilities

  • Provide program oversight for a multi-data center modernization initiative involving numerous internal infrastructure and engineering teams
  • Establish and maintain program structure, timelines, milestones, and cross-team coordination mechanisms
  • Drive alignment across workstreams to ensure progress remains synchronized across infrastructure, networking, platform, and application teams
  • Track key dependencies and proactively surface delivery risks to leadership
  • Serve as the technical liaison between engineering teams, infrastructure architects, and program stakeholders
  • Translate complex technical workstreams into clear program-level visibility and reporting
  • Identify and escalate architectural or integration risks that could impact delivery timelines
  • Support the transition from VMware-based virtualization to a modernized three-tier architecture
  • Ensure coordination across containerization, orchestration, compute, storage, and networking layers
  • Facilitate collaboration between platform teams working on containerization and Kubernetes-based environments
  • Work closely with senior IT leadership to maintain visibility into program progress and key risks
  • Facilitate program governance meetings and executive updates
  • Act as the connective layer across teams to ensure communication remains consistent and effective
  • Monitor progress across workstreams spanning multiple data centers
  • Ensure key milestones remain on track and that teams are aligned on priorities and dependencies
  • Help remove blockers and maintain forward momentum across the program
