About The Position
A Cost Basis Product Manager drives the strategy, development, and compliance of financial software systems, focusing on accurate tax reporting, cost tracking, and regulatory adherence. They define product roadmaps, bridge technical and operational teams to enhance client investment experiences, and ensure compliance with tax laws, often working on complex B2B2C platforms. About the firm: This young new age technology FinTech firm will provide ample opportunity to new contractors to become full time employees if the contractor(s) meet or exceed expectation in their initial contracting role. Location: Downtown Manhattan New York Assignment Type: Hybrid in most cases but in special circumstances remote could be a possibility if the firm deems the candidate to be exceptional and the candidate lives outside of the New York Tri-State Area. Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of related work experience, often requiring expertise in financial services, tax reporting, or fintech.
- Technical Understanding: Strong understanding of product management principles and the capability to engage with engineering teams on system architecture.
- Education: Undergraduate degree required, with graduate degrees often preferred.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, analytical thinking, and ability to manage large, complex cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Roadmap: Defining the vision and strategic direction for Cost Basis and tax reporting systems, aligning them with regulatory compliance and market needs.
- Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborating with engineering, operations, legal, and client-facing teams to build and improve product features.
- Regulatory Compliance & Accuracy: Managing compliance initiatives (e.g., SOX, tax reporting) and ensuring the accuracy of investment cost data (PII, security, SLOs).
- Requirements Definition: Translating complex tax workflows and technical requirements into actionable user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria.
- Product Development Life Cycle: Leading the end-to-end implementation of new features, from concept to delivery and maintenance.
- Data Analysis & Optimization: Utilizing quantitative and qualitative techniques to analyze user experience and improve product performance.
