Our growing, inclusive team is expanding as we connect more cities and people Role Description As the Engineering Vendor Manager, you will ensure the network design is reliable and efficient by reviewing existing designs, playing an integral role in future designs, and general engineering activities including troubleshooting and plant maintenance input. In this role you will ensure the engineering design follows the GFiber Standards and Architecture while managing the general engineering portfolio and ensure that our network is logical and protected. Additionally, you will perform critical tasks that maintain and improve the general design, and will take the technical lead in ensuring reliable and efficient designs propel our forward build. You like being with the TechOps team, executing complex projects that bring internet access to people.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Telecommunications or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years experience in network operations, engineering, construction and/or maintenance roles.
  • Experience in managing engineering efficiency and process improvements for an organization.
  • Experience managing telecommunication engineering infrastructure, Fiber to the Home/Plant (FFTx) design, operations, and/or outside plant (OSP) projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing vendor engineering resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating network engineering, network design planning and plant configuration control.
  • Working knowledge of fiber inventory management and assignment systems.
  • Experience managing complex projects involving team members from multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning and performance of tasks that support ongoing engineering.
  • Implement the GFiber Standards and architectural practices that meet GFiber’s service requirements and roadmap system upgrades and communicate progress and activities to internal stakeholders.
  • Support and lead implementation of the growing fiber to the home network infrastructure for new build and customer installation efforts.
  • Perform new plant design and configuration control of existing plant.
  • Review engineering designs and either validate or correct those designs.
  • Ensure the designs are constructible and deployable for OSP Forward Build teams.
  • Manage local engineering vendor staff, maintain existing plant configuration control, revise and track documentation, and track contractor performance including billing against budget and contract.
  • Supervise engineering vendors of internal GFiber teams and external vendors and contribute to work standards/best practices.
  • Support in coordination of outside plant moves/changes due to civil works projects.
  • Write training design documents that specify the operation and interoperability of core fiber to the home network architecture components, and collaborate with other team members and groups to identify and develop scalable network designs, solutions and policy recommendations relevant to a large fiber to the home access network.
