We are seeking a Technical Operations Area Team Lead who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while bringing families closer together and caring deeply about our brand. The right Technical Operations Area Team Lead will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator. This role exists to provide overall leadership and support to our technical team and management staff, while enforcing company policies, procedures and Management decisions. This role supports the Entertainment Department with quality overall stage technical duties for various shows and experiences in order to provide Park Guests with a high-quality entertainment experience matching the expected level of the Dollywood Brand. This role has area/zonal responsibilities for technology solutions. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate from a Technical school in a related field required
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience required which demonstrates the successful execution of similar duties and responsibilities in a live show environment
  • High level of knowledge of high-tech theatrical equipment, installation, and operation
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • Excellent working knowledge of theatrical equipment at all levels of complexity, its installation and operation
  • Previous experience operating, programing, and troubleshooting technical equipment
  • Experience using and training others in the safe use of hand tools and power tools such as voltmeters, soldering pencils and guns, clamp on DMM, hand drills, electric saws, hammers, screw guns, wrenches, pliers, genie lifts, scissor lifts, and ladders
  • Able to make a friendly impression when speaking to or corresponding with guests, vendors, and other employees
  • Must reflect Dollywood’s image by being genuinely friendly and caring and by taking pride in work
  • Must be self-motivated and disciplined
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Able to be flexible to handle frequent changes in priorities

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operations of Specialty Technical Operations teams including Festival Lighting, Dolly Parton Experience (DPE), City Sound, Drones, Foam and Evening Repair and Logistics
  • Provides insight and support for new technologies as they are developed for Entertainment operations.
  • Support the adaptation and re-purposing of existing technology
  • Ensures communication among leadership regarding timelines and projects
  • Serves as point of contact for vendors as needed
  • Oversees on park tech team and provide leadership by supporting and enforcing policies and procedures and management decisions
  • Performs technical (installation and operation) duties associated with theatrical and special effects for festival activations, special events, concerts, and normal park operation
  • Maintains Inventory control of Dollywood equipment and supplies at assigned venues
  • Works on implementation and planning for storage area clean-out along with a quarterly assessment of items/space
  • Initiates and/or provide training for a variety of equipment: lighting fixtures, speakers, amps, DMX nodes, projectors, and lighting controllers
  • Performs routine maintenance and upkeep of technical related components
  • Provides technical expertise in both “hands on” and supervisory situations which ensures a quality show and tech teamwork
  • Aids and supports as directed for new and existing shows
  • Initiates and/or provides the training and awareness of Safety procedures and policies as Authorized Safety Trainers
  • Responsible for monthly Safety reports.
  • Provides safety quality control in all areas of technical installations
  • Represents Entertainment Department as PIC
  • Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time
