As the Technical Lead – Plant Equipment Design you will lead and mentor a matrixed team with a focus on work planning, technical approach, design assurance, and execution excellence from ITO through OTR on new build and modernization projects. Scope includes proposal, requirements management, design, optioneering, equipment selection, installation through commissioning as well as stewardship of guides, tools, skills development, knowledge capture, lessons learned, best practices, issue resolution, and supplier or partner technical oversight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related four-year technical degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a technical and/or business environment
  • At least 2 years of experience in a technical leadership role, including direct customer interaction
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% (domestic and international)
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in nuclear plant system or component design, plant engineering, maintenance and modifications, and/or new plant design certification and licensing
  • 5+ years of experience in equipment or component design and/or technical reviews, including product requirements management, technical risk tracking and mitigation, design reviews, procurement, and fabrication support
  • 5+ years of experience working with applicable industry standards such as ASME, AWS, and BWRVIP guidance
  • Strong proficiency with engineering and productivity software, including Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Visio), CAD/modeling and analysis tools, and collaboration platforms such as PLM and Documentum
  • Familiarity with U.S. nuclear laws, regulations, guidance, and industry requirements, including NRC, DOE, or international equivalents
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance technical detail, risk, schedule, and business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of scope, planning, scheduling, budgeting, prioritization, action tracking, and execution
  • Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude and a proven ability to deliver quality results on time and within budget in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Adaptable and quick to learn, with the ability to work effectively across functions, business units, partner organizations, suppliers, customers, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify and implement more effective ways of working
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, well-organized engineering documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated leadership ability

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering solutions across plant disciplines, including mechanical design, equipment design, licensing support, procurement, testing, and installation/operations support.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to develop project proposals, plans, cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Support project execution by tracking progress, identifying risks and issues, and helping develop mitigation or recovery plans.
  • Help manage scope changes and support project change requests when needed.
  • Ensure work is delivered on time, within budget, and in line with technical, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate daily project activities and follow through to make sure commitments and deliverables are met.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and support teams to drive project completion.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to support high-quality system design through fabrication, installation, and testing.
  • Support resource planning, statement of work development, and team mobilization across internal and external partners.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing, process improvement, and simplification efforts.
  • Promote a strong nuclear safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and industry regulations.
