Why This Role Matters: Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to drive the strategic development, implementation, and optimization of our Marketing Cloud platforms. This role will be instrumental in leveraging cutting-edge marketing technologies to enhance customer engagement and support our global marketing initiatives, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud development and architecture.
  • Experience as a Technical Lead or Senior Developer or similar role with leadership responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience with AMPscript, SSJS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL within the Marketing Cloud environment.
  • Hands-on experience designing and supporting Marketing Cloud Connect implementations, including API integrations and data extensions used to power cross-channel campaigns across Salesforce and Marketing Cloud environments.
  • Experience applying data modeling, data architecture, and database concepts in a marketing context, as evidenced by designing or maintaining marketing data structures used for segmentation, targeting, or campaign execution.
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer and/or Architect certifications (e.g., Marketing Cloud Email Specialist, Marketing Cloud Consultant, Marketing Cloud Administrator, Marketing Cloud Developer, Marketing Cloud Architect).
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design, architecture, and development of solutions within the Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) ecosystem, including Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio, CloudPages, and Mobile Studio.
  • Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and actionable development plans, ensuring alignment with overall IT strategy and marketing objectives.
  • Oversee the end-to-end implementation of marketing campaigns and personalized customer journeys, ensuring data integrity, system performance, and adherence to best practices.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Marketing Cloud developers and specialists, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing stakeholders, business analysts, and other IT teams to understand needs, provide technical expertise, and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Define and enforce development standards, governance policies, and security protocols for Marketing Cloud platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures to ensure system stability and reliability.
  • Stay abreast of the latest Marketing Cloud features, releases, and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact and recommending strategic adoption.
  • Participate in vendor management and evaluation for related marketing technology solutions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and operational procedures.
