Amazon Web Services is looking for a Technical Infrastructure Program Manager (TIPM) to support and deploy one of the world’s largest and most complex telecommunication networks. The role is responsible for the execution of a strategic plan to improve the business processes and deployment of hyper-scaled cloud infrastructure - fiber networks, oversight of quality control systems, pre/post-inspections for design validation, driving vendor management, and stakeholder communication for delivery schedules and invoices forecasts. This opportunity is on the Fiber Deployment team that is within the Global Connectivity Infrastructure Development - GCID - organization, which is responsible for planning, developing, and acquiring the physical network solutions that drive Amazon’s internal infrastructure and connect our services to the world. Job expects travel up to 60% of the year for Project based inspections. This role oversees deployment of long haul fiber infrastructure, and iterative procedural changes. The candidate drives the delivery of the network connectivity and never settles for the high level answer. The candidate with dive into the details to understand the true blockers and work to resolve them. This may include travel to the field, generation of weekly reports, and updating standards and specifications for a global deployment team. This position requires onsite visits to physical locations and is not a remote job. Physical inspections and learning the technical standards for outside and inside fiber plant is required, with a strong emphasis on fiber characterization - OTDR, PMD, CMD, ILA hardware requirements and quality inspections. In addition this role drives process improvement activities from inception to adoption related to increasing the velocity for the long-haul team to light fiber. This includes communication with stakeholders to identify the critical activities and how to implement solutions.
