Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials. This position is intended for the Propulsion Plant Monitoring and Control (PPMC) Software Planning and Coordination team within the Integrated Propulsion Plant Instrumentation and Control (IPPI&C) section of Department E50 - Propulsion and Reactor Engineering Planning Yard (PREPY). The incumbent will be responsible for techncial writing in support of the PPMC System Configuration, Administration, and Operation Technical Manual as well as configuration management of various chapters of the Propulsion Plant Manual, working closely with lead engineers for guidance and direction. Responsibilities may also include preparation and/or peer review of approval letters, interdepartmental memos, liaison action request (LAR) responses, process guides, etc. The ideal candidate for this position will also communicate with the Navy, NNL, and management/engineers across the PREPY and other NNS departments during regular status meetings and review cycles.
