About The Position

As a global leader in Stainless Steel, we're seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager-BA Americas to be part of our Commercial team. In this role, you will support Outokumpu's strategic growth by translating customer technical requirements into differentiated stainless solutions while partnering closely with the Business Development Managers, Supply Chain, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to enable new applications, validate feasibility, and accelerate commercialization of value-based opportunities. This role serves as the technical authority to customers and internal teams, ensuring solutions meet performance, quality, and profitability targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical, metallurgical, or application engineering experience.
  • Stainless steel, specialty metals, or corrosion-resistant materials experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting customer qualification and industrial manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to translate technical complexity into customer-relevant value.
  • Strong understanding of stainless grades, processing, and performance tradeoffs.
  • Comfortable engaging with customer engineers and internal operations, supply chain and quality teams.
  • Structured problem-solver with strong documentation skills.
  • Collaborative, execution-focused, and able to operate in ambiguous environment.

  • Stainless steel, specialty metals, or corrosion-resistant materials experience strongly preferred

  • Owns the technical plans and activities of strategically aligned opportunities, translating customer requirements into feasible stainless solutions for customers.
  • Leads application development, trials, and customer qualification activities to validate performance, quality, and manufacturability of new stainless solutions.
  • Drives technical alignment across Business Development, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure solutions meet production, cost, and scalability requirements.
  • Acts as the technical authority with customer engineering and quality teams, building trust and enabling value-based differentiation.
  • Acts as the primary technical partner to the Business Development Managers, supporting the aligned opportunities by shaping technical solutions, validating feasibility, and enabling value-based customer conversations throughout the opportunity lifecycle.
